The heater core on the car is out and needs replacement. I read on this site http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070320152232AAaJAEs that is was suppose to be fairly simple to do. My mechanic says it could cost 700-1000 dollars. Is it really that difficult? Does the dash need to be completely taken out?

Ryan, its not that expensive to do and no the dash does not need to come out.  The core is about 200 buck and labor shouldnt be more than 2 hours.  Its tricky but not too hard. I cant tell you step by step but a few pointers I can do.  Let me know if you want to tackle it.  Roger
