Volvo Repair: 90 Volvo 240 gas in oil, fuel pressure regulators, fuel pressure regulator

Question
Hi
I took my Volvo in for an oil change this week and the guy who changed my
oil said there was gas in my oil.  He didn't know what was causing this.  I had
the car inspected and the oil changed 5 months ago  and there were no
problems.  I only drive the car for short trips  (less than 5 minutes) because
everything is close to where I live.  I haven't let it warm up either this winter,
just start and go.  Do you have any ideas what is causing this problem?   I've
been researching this issue this and have seen coolant temp sensors and fuel
pressure regulators mentioned.  Would changing brands of gas recently have
had any effect?  Any input you could provide would be greatly appreciated.  I
love my Volvo and can't afford another car.  Thanks,  Jennifer

Answer
Jennifer, fuel pressure regulator is the first place I would look. Pull off the vacuum line leading to it and see if it's wet inside. If yes, replace fuel pressure regulator and change oil and filter. Letting it warm up occasionally is good for it too.
