Volvo Repair: Addl info on Ignition key wont turn, lock cylinder, tumblers

Question
Sorry, I forgot to tell you it is a 1999 S70 non turbo.

>I've had off an on trouble with the key not turning when I go to start the car.  Usually am able to get it to start if I pull the key out, rotate it 180 deg. & retry.  But this morning I've had no luck.  Should I replace the ignition? or is there another solution?  If I should replace it are there any tricks to it or is it pretty straight forward.

Thank you in advance for your help, I really appreciate it.

Answer
John, first try having a new key cut. Yours may just be worn. For future reference, never have a big ring of keys with your ignition set. The added weight and constant swinging wears out the tumblers and lock cylinder. Then replacement is the only option.
