Volvo Repair: fuel gauge in volvo not working, fuel level sender, fuel gauge

Question
Hey! The 1990 Volvo 240 (sedan) that I am driving is old and in need of repairs, but I am broke. At any rate none of the (interior) lights on the dashboard work, speedometer etc. Someone suggested that it must be a blown fuse. After a long search I finally was able to find the fuse box. I replaced the one to the dash lights and they continue not to work. However, now the fuel gauge does not work. Do you know of any thing that I might do to cause the fuel gauge to work. (I bought some clip on lights at a dollar store to get around the 'no interior lights' issue.) I would appreciate any insight into this.

Answer
Louise, thats not old.  That car is still new.  Try turning the dimmer switch to see if it was accidently moved.  The fuel gauge issue may be 3 things.  A bad fuel level sender, bad temperature board or a faulty gauge.  Either way, this is something that a shop needs to look at.  Nothing you can do for it.  Roger
