Volvo Repair: Power seat repair in 01 V40, volvo dealer, seat motor

Question
Hello,
My wife and I just purchased an 01 v40 last week.  The driver's side power seat started to malfunction.  It appears that only one side will move forward/backward when I press the power seat button.
I took it to the Volvo dealer and they gave me two part numbers 30880279 and 30880280 and told me it was a "tracx tube" which was written out on the estimate.
Unfortunately, they wanted $400 to repair this.  And the parts only cost around $80 total they told me.
At this time, we don't have that kind of money to put into repairing the seat, but do need it fixed.  So I was wondering if you are familiar with the repair of this issue and could give me some help or could point me in the right direction in order to repair this myself.
Thanks so much for any help you can give me, I greatly appreciate it.

Chris

Answer
Chris, I havent had to do one on a V40 but if they are anything like the other Volvo seats, then all you have to do is repair the tube and reinsert the cable portion.  It basically stretches out and causes the cable not to seat properly in the seat motor.  If you want to tackle this, take a look under the seat and tell me how its setup.  Roger
