Volvo Repair: 95 volvo 850 turbo wagon, failed emissions, volvo 850 turbo wagon, nothing but crooks

Question
Dear Roger,
My 850 wagon passed all emission tests for CA registration yesterday but failed because the check engine light remains on; I understand this might be because I don't have my car serviced at a Volvo dealership. I've had the car for two years and it runs perfectly; is there any way I can turn the light off without having to pay the ridiculous amount of $100.00 just to have the a mechanic run computer logistics?

Many thanks for any suggestions,
Sarah

Answer
Sarah, Shops that charge that much are nothing but crooks.  We provide a courtesy service to scan the car to see whats wrong.  Most people will fix the problem.  You can manually read the codes on your car.  Let me know if you want to pursue reading and clearing of codes.  I can give you a procedure on how to do it.  Roger
