Question
have several volvos,worndering if its a good or bad idea to go to synthetic,,,88 760 wagon turbo a/t 90k,,,90 740 sedan n/turbo a/t91k,,,1994 850 sedan n/turbo stic 150k

Answer
Brad, you can ask four people this question and get four different answers. In my mind, synthetics are better lubricants. But there's more to oil properties than lubrication. Cling factor, ph, impact resistance, seal conditioner etc. I could go on and on. It takes a chemist to know it all.
What I do. I use a good quality oil and an excellent filter. The filter is probably more important than the oil. Castrol, Kendall are my personal favorites. Valvoline is popular, but a real mediocre product. Baldwin or Bosch filters. Change every 2000 miles. (2000 because by the time I get around to it, it's usually 2500 or 3000.)VBG
The synthetics "may" be better, but is it worth the price? If you go with synthetic, do not go with those ridiculous 7000 mile change intervals. HTH

Happy New Year!
