Volvo: 1999 V70 XC - Wiil not start, v70 xc, charles test

My volvo will not start once I turn the key, Lights come on but no sound of trying to turn over, could this possible be the battery, I am going to try and boost it once i get off work.

Test the battery by all means. Sometimes a shorted battery is not able to be jumped. If all that checks out see if there is a code for the gear position sensor (neutral safety). Is the vehicle all the way in Park? Try it in neutral. Is the alarm set? Lock and unlock the door with the key. Is the key you are using a key that has been programmed to the vehicle? You may have to have codes read at a Volvo shop to help see what is missing.
