Volvo Repair: 96 volvo 850 electrical, volvo 850, soap and water

Question
My sister recently purchased a used 96 volvo 850. She replaced the battery because the car was completely dead. After driving in rainy wheather(may not be relevent), she made a stop & put her hazzards on with the car running.Once she returned to driving the hazzards would not cut off. She arrived home & cut the car off the hazzards would not switch off & the car would not start.   Eventually they went off on their own & when she tried to restart the car they came back on & the car would not start. About an hour later things returned to normal & the car started. Could this be the start of something or some kind or problem with the brain in the car?

Answer
Don, possibly something wrong with the brain in your sister? VBG JUST KIDDING SIS! I'm in a weird mood today.
No, they are a really simple switch, flasher bulb and wire system. No computers involved. I would check the flasher and then the switch. Is the switch "sticky"? If it is, try cycling it several times to ungum it. Clean with soap and water may help too. Coffee and pop usually get in there and make them sticky. HTH

Merry Christmas
