Volvo Repair: vibration when driving, volvo 240, rubber bushing

Question
hi, i have a 1984 volvo 240 turbo. she has the m46 with the push button overdrive, which i'm sure you know. whenever i start driving from a stop, my car starts vibrating pretty badly, but goes away when i push the clutch to let my revs down. i have no doubt that its coming from the driveline, since my shifter just about vibrates the knob off. i would love to get this fixed. please help?

Answer
Driveshaft center support bearing and bushing. Be sure to check all U-joints while you are there. Very common. The rubber bushing is usually the main culprit. Sometimes the bearing that rides in it gets dry and siezes. It then starts spinning in the rubber and wears/burns it out. Just replace both to be sure.
