Volvo Repair: low pressure oil warning, gasket material, volvo repair

Question
Roger,

I have a 01 v70 turbo and have been reading quite a few posts on this subject and it seems that pick-up o-rings and a pan seal almost always solve the problem.  You as well as others have recommended only going to a Volvo repair center to have this repair done.  Is it really that difficult or are there special tools required?  I am thinking about doing the job myself.  I have a number of years experience working on cars and have done entire engine rebuilds.  However, I have not done too much on Volvos.  Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks,
Bill

Answer
Bill, If you have a lift its not bad to do.  Doing it on the floor sucks.  you need a engine cradle as well as Volvo Chemical gasket for the pan.  Both surfaces need to be clean and and gasket material needs to be rolled on.  The hardest part is getting the pan off.  No special tools.  Roger
