Volvo Repair: V40 timing belt, volvo manuals, balance shaft

Question
2001 V40 1.9liter wagon with 66,000 miles. Have changed plugs and transmission fluid but maintenance calls for timing belt and pulley at 105,000 or 7 years. If all is intact is there any adjustments necessary, or just straight out straight back in R&R? Pretty competent shady tree mechanic, considering doing it myself rather than give the dealer $800.00 for the job. Volvo manuals hard to come by. Please advise whether the 7 years is a definite time to change, and difficulty level. I do my own brakes, water pumps, alternators, etc and have rebuilt carbs and a few GM small blocks. Advice?

Answer
Definitely replace, that's a valve benderReplace anything it touches or spins at the same time. Water pump too. It is difficult, but if you TDC everything and lock it in place, it's not so bad. Just don't let any cams or the crankshaft move. If there is a balance shaft, secure that too.
