Volvo Repair: fuel pump question on 87 245, bosch pump, intank

Question
great site....i read somewhere that you said if the fuel pump is noisy it is probably on its last leg. I seem to have a fuel pump that hums....should i start shopping for a replacement?

Answer
Dan, first I would start with replacing the in-tank pump.  If the main pump stops humming then the intank was the issue.  If it still hums after the intank is replaced, then start thinking about getting a BOSCH pump.  Ive seen too many people put aftermarket crap on their cars.  Its junk.  Doesnt last and doesnt give you the correct PSI needed.  Roger
