Volvo Repair: Volvo 850 Horn, volvo 850 glt, volvo 850

My Volvo 850 GLT Horn has stopped working.  I note that "Horn Repair" Kits are available for about $30-$60 that claim to be able to fix the "contact points", rather than having to buy/replace the entire steering wheel...One "Kit" even has a video to show step-by-step how it's done...Question...Are these kits bogus? Is it a hard job to do without exploding the air-bag?

 Zach, it depends, some kits are better than others. I would go with the one that comes with the video if you've never done it before. EXTREME caution should be used whenever working around the air bag system. Disconnect the battery before starting and wait 20 minutes. Then, you can't go wrong. Mind you still be cautious, but there's no magic or hidden danger. Just be sure the vehile is un occupied when you reconnect the battery.
