Volvo Repair: volvo, volvo s80 t6, volvo s80

Question
Hi guys I just got a Volvo S80 T6 2000 it only has 53000 miles on it and the car its giving me many problems but the most recent one it's a light about the "DSTC service needed". i don't know what exactly this system does to the car and how can it affects it's malfunction. also for the past two days the car's alternator has not charged the battery therefore, i must jump stared it once in a while.  i was wondering if there could be a relation between these two things and how much would you think it would cost me to fixed it!! I do not have any knowledge about Volvos and of course i have no idea in what kind of trouble i got my self into.  I would really appreciated any information you guys can provide me.

Thank You!!

Answer
Lorena, the DSTC is part of the Braking system.  You will most likely need and ABS control unit.  As far as the alternator, there is a bulletin on those. You will need a new voltage regulator.  One problem has nothing to do with the other. To put it mildly, you got yourself into a mess because its only going to get worse with this abortion of a Volvo.  I wish they never made these cars.  Roger
