Volvo Repair: Blower Motor, blower motor resistor, manual states

Question
QUESTION: 1990 S70.  When I turn on the blower motor it comes on for a couple of seconds then stops.  Orange lights flash in the off switch to the AC and the recirculation switch.  Manual states when this happens to take it to a dealer.

Both leads to the blower motor are hot when I connect a test light to them.

Thanks,

Steve

ANSWER: Steve, Im assuming its a 98 or 99 S70.  There was no 1990 S70.  Of course the manual is going to say that.  Most likely you need a blower motor resistor.  Dealer shop book says to replace the blower motor as well but if its not giving you any other issues, the resistor should be enough.  Roger

QUESTION: We replaced the resistor and same problem, the blower stops working and the two light on the AC on/of and recircutatlion switches blink.

Answer
Steve, obviously there is an issue here.  This will need to be scanned.  There is probably an in car temp sensor issue or possibly the A/C control head itself.  I suggest a Volvo shop to give you a hand.  I have no other suggestions at this point without checking the car out myself.  Roger
