Volvo Repair: timing belt question, volvo 850 glt, gas mileage

Question
Sorry for not remembering to put the year/model: 95 volvo 850 glt 2.4 non turbo, and here is the question from yesterday. I recently replaced my timing belt and didn't use the cam holding tool when I removed the belt and I think the cams might have moved slightly and if they did would that effect my gas mileage and if not is there another problem I should be trying to diagnose?
Thanks again

Answer
Johnny, you dont need a cam tool to hold the gears.  How did you line up the marks?  Gas milage really doesnt affect this.  Car would run poorly.  You MUST line the cams up correctly. There are tricks so the gears will not move. Do it from the intake cam, then exhaust, water pump, etc.  Tension will be on right side of the belt and will be fine.  I would check your marks again.  Roger
