Volvo Repair: 1994 Volvo 850 power loss at higher revs, volvo specialist, oxygen sensors

Hi Roger, I have a 1994 Volvo 850 non-turbo 5 cylinder sedan (Australian spec) with a power loss issue.  The problem is that the car will not rev above about 3300 rpm no matter load or going up or down hills.  When it gets in that rev range it stats to hesitate, even when going down hill.  I have replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump with no improvement.  I have replaced the spark plugs and the wires appear in good shape.  The car has about 80,000 miles on it.  I thought maybe a MAF issue only to find out after hours of searching the car and looking on forums that I have no MAF, instead it uses an air intake temperature sensor to work with a MAP.  I have checked the trouble codes (no OBDS, just a small box in the engine bay with holes and a pin) and it does not come up with any errors for the engine, the only error that shows up is for the auto trans with a known issue with the gear position sensor that acts up sometimes when it is really cold outside.  My last guess is either the air temp sensor or the oxygen sensors (I think there are 2 but not sure yet).

Any thoughts?

Michael, how can you not have a MAF?  That makes no sense even with Autralian Specs.  It may be a throtle sensor that is not reading properly.  Its possible that it may be a transmission issue as well.  Its hard to say really without seeing the car.  I would have it checked by a Volvo Specialist.  Im sorry I couldnt help much on this one.   Roger
