Volvo Repair: 95 740 turn off service light, turn the key, push button

Hello:  I have a 95, 740.  How can I turn off the service engine light?  I saw that some years push in the tripomiter turn the key to the #1 position and then to the #2 position.  I tried that and held it for 20 seconds with no luck.  Should I be doing something else?

There is no such car.  95 850??  if its an 850 procedure is #7, push button 4 times, wait for light to go out, hit button once, wait for light to go out, the push 5 times, wait for light to go out, then hit one more time and wait for light to flash fast.  Reset complete.  If its another model, let me know.  Roger
