Volvo Repair: [94 940] fuel delivery? perhaps, alternator..., stereo head unit, aftermarket stereo

Question
QUESTION: i just purchased my used volvo today.  it's a 94' 940 with 137,000 miles.  i have a pretty rough idle whenever i decelerate and reduce to lower speeds around 10mph.  and it maintains rough while at a stand-still in drive.  and whenever i accelerate again it roughens up a bit until 15mph.  perhaps motor mounts, i've heard?  and my used car also came with a poor aftermarket stereo head unit i would like to replace but it seems i have to take off some of the trim pieces that is housing around it.  how would i take off these things?  and with purchasing this car i would like bring it up to a better par maintenance wise...what are the typical things i should do.  (ie; oil change, tune up, check battery...)  also...one of the doors in the back doesn't open on the outside or the inside.  suggestions?  it takes a little of winding up before the car actually starts up after turning my key for ignition.  and lastly...the previous owner had the trunk broken into...so the keyhole had been jimmy'ed and is now rendered useless.  how could i go about replacing that...after perhaps getting the latch from a junkyard.

thank you sooooo much for your time.  this is my first swedish car and i would LOVE to hold onto it.

ANSWER: Kevin, First I need to know which fuel system the car has.  Does it have a Bosch airmass meter on top of the air filter box?. It may be mounts, etc.  The stereo trim is just that.  Trim.  Someone may have put that kit in there.  They suck to come out.  Prying is the only way and you would need to get a new faceplate kit.  The door is going to be a problem to help you on.  Better leave that one to a Volvo shop.  I would do a Complete service on the car including a timing belt.  If it has a sticker on the cover then you know when it was done last.  Those should be done every 50k miles.   Oil change, plugs, cap and rotor, wires, air filter, fuel filter, coolant, etc.  Roger

QUESTION: EXCELLENT!!

i took care of some of the typical second-hand car maintenance; like oil change, air filter, spark plugs, oil gasket and water pump.  and i was pulling away from the auto shop my car dies.  it had died two times before this while driving.  it just abruptly dies...no prior warnings before malfunction.  the car smells as if it is running rich or that may be due to the eroded tailpipe.  the battery does work fine to best of my knowledge.  all my lights and radio still work.  but without doing a diagnostic on it...i was told it could either be in the fuel delivery system concerning the fuel pump.  or the alternator.  when i try to start it...it comes on for about 4 seconds with a very rough ignition and has a shaky idle then dies.  it won't stay on for past a few seconds after ignition.  so essentially what i've come to you for is just some typical symptoms regarding both parts if they were to be out of commission.  what are the potential side effects of each parts failure to operate.

thank you sooooo much for your time.

oh and i also have a pretttty bad oil leak coming from an unknown location on the underside of the engine.  i'm sure it's a shot in the dark to pinpoint the exact epicenter of the problem without physically observing it.  but it leaks like a champ and it's not from the gasket.  suggestions?

thanks again very much.

Answer
Kevin, You still didnt tell me the Type of Fuel system the car has.  Stalling can be anything.  Most likely fuel related.  Does the car start back up right away??  The oil leak sounds like the rear main seal but would definately have to look at it.  Roger
