Volvo Repair: Want to Buy a Used Volvo, heather heather, volvo repair

Question
I grew up driving (and riding in) many Volvos over the years, and I love them!  I'm really interested in purchasing a used Volvo, but after reading some of the posts regarding the issues old Volvo owners have, I'm a bit hesitant.  I noticed one particular post where you said that the '99 S80 is very unreliable, so I'll stay away from that one for sure.  My question is: what years/models do you recommend?  I'm looking for a sedan; maybe even a late 80s, early 90s model if I can find a reliable Volvo repair shop.  Any recommendations for a mechanic in the Phoenix, AZ area?  Thanks for all your help!

Answer
Heather, The only shop that I have listed other than the dealer is Hirsch Foreign but I could swear they are a recycling yard.  Give them a call at 800-544-4517. As far as good reliable Volvos and my personal Favorite is the 240.  If you can find a 93 240 in nice shape, it has all the safety items and it was the last year made.  Pretty much any of the red engine 4 cylinder Volvos is what I recommend.  740, 940, 240.  If you have any other specific questions you would like to know about any of these models, please feel free to contact me again.  Roger
