Volvo Repair: Steering wheel vibration:, wheel vibration, rear rotors

Question
Hi Roger,
I seem to be stumped and can really use your advice. I have a 1996 Volvo 960 Wagon. Upon braking I have quite a bit vibration in the steering wheel. I just had the front brakes and rotors replaced recently with Volvo parts and the rear brakes done as well. I believe the rear rotors were resurfaced vs. the front being replaced. Approximately 18 months ago the car was in the shop for the same vibration problem and the brakes and rotors were done at that time as well. I brought the car to my mechanic who thought it was the rotors the second time. I am not a mechanic but I really don't think it is the rotor problem? Would you know of anything else that may be contributing to this vibration in the steering wheel? (i.e.)
Brake calipers, Steering Box. Thanks for your help and I look forward to your reply.

Answer
Dej, rotors wear out very quickly depending on your driving habits.  There may be a sticky caliper or a problem in the front end such as ball joints, steering rods or bushings.  That should all be checked first before any new rotors are installed.  I hope this helped.  Roger
