Volvo Repair: How to fix power seat, volvo 960, question sir

Question
QUESTION: Dear Sir,
I have a volvo 960 (94) and the passenger side power seat only move "one side".  I recalled that you once answer a lady that a "cable" need to be fixed and advise also that is easy.

Could you advise more detail as how to fix it?  I really want to try to fix my volvo.

Thanks in advance.

Andrew

ANSWER: Andrew, basically you are shortening the cable housing a little so the cable portion can engage into the motor.  Its easy for me since I've done hundreds.  Not sure if you want to tackle this one but if you do let me know.  Roger

QUESTION: Sir,
Thanks for your quick reply, and I do want to do that.

I learn years ago from your to replace trunk strut, and today and I am using the same skill to help my friend.  Thanks in advance.

Answer
Andrew, tilt the seat up so it will be easier to access the motors.  The forward and backward motor should be the second one from the front.  Remove the 2 screws that hold the cable in.  remove the cable from the motor.  Remove the inner cable.  With a small torch, heat up the silver piece with a pliers.  Dont heat it up too much.  Pull on it.  It should come off the black housing.  Now with a sharp blade cut about 1/2 off the black housing.  Heat up the silver piece and press it on the housing.  It will stop and the end.  Put the cable in.  If it doesnt catch then use the switch and press down on the cable until it latches on the other side.  Now put everything back together and you are done.  Roger
