Volvo Repair: heater not working, volvo 850, kim kim

Hello,we are buying a 1993 volvo 850 excellent shape,for 695.00 w/ 155,000 miles on it.Is it worth it?just needs a front grill,1 tire because it has a spare on it,and our main concern is the heat,we tried to turn the heat on,but we get nothing no noice,no heat or ac,it has the dial heat adjustment,not the push kind,what could the problem be?Anything major?(hope not)few friends of ours said blower,fuse or swith,what can we do to see what the problem is?Im aware how to check the fuse 1st but,do u have any suggestions just didnt want to purchase a blower n have it be something else maybe your advice could lead us in the right direction.Thanks in advance kim.

Kim, personally I would stay away from that thing.  You are asking for problems.  If you have an abundance of money to get that thing up to date then by all means, buy it.  Just to give you an example.  The control head for the A/C heat etc is a common failure and just the part is 600 bucks.  Used ones are very hard to find.  If you want to buy a used Volvo, then get a 240.  You cant go wrong with that one.  Roger
