Volvo Repair: ac not cold, volvo s90, ac system

i have a 98 volvo s90 my ac wasn't working no cold air just warm air. Took it to the shop had it diagnosed and they told me that i needed to replace the evaporator. $1000 dollars later and my ac is still not cold, now there is a noise like there is a hose that has a leak.  What can be the problem and how can it be fixed?

Damaris, there are many components on an ac system.  It happens.  a shop can change the Evap and then something else happens because of pressure changes.  If the hose has a leak, replace it.  Without looking at the car and especially an A/C issue, its impossible for me to know what it is without inspecting the car.  Roger
