Volvo Repair: bulb failure relay, bulb failure, soldering iron

Question
Good morning Mr Davis I replaced the bulb failure a month ago and now it seems to be bad.It is a new relay from F.C.P.Groton.I read that this relay could be jumpered around Do you how to do this ? Thanks Sincerely,Roger Gallo

Answer
Roger,
I always hesitate to jumper anything with as complicated electronics as a Volvo- you just never know what else might be affected. The bulb failure relay works on imbalanced current draws. Are your bulbs on each side of the car the same? If you are handy with a soldering iron, I would pull the cover on the relay and check for cracked solder joints. Production solder joints are notorious for going bad. You may be able to heat the joints up good and solve your problem.
