Volvo Repair: 2001 xc70 75Kmiles, fluid nozzle, engine torque

Question
Errgh....wish I would have done more homework before buying this car...but too late now; we don't have the money to take a loss or replace it. So. That being said, seems there are always things wrong with it and it takes tons of money for repairs...We need to replace the rear sway bars, the engine torque mount, the radiator and general maintenace things like replacing the front right headlight wiper arm and blades, the rear wiper fluid nozzle....where do we get info/manuals that will give clear, accurate info to do this stuff??? We can probably do all of it except the radiator, but seems that it is always more difficult than it should be to do these things. Anyway, besides that general manual question for you, I'd also like to know if you have some very specific things we should do (besides regular oil changes) that we should be doing religiously, without fail??? This car really needs to last us for years....

Answer
Jeri, the pains of owning a Volvo is nit picky stuff.  The XC70 is not the best but is not the worst Volvo so it will be worth your while to fix it.  I suggest factory manuals because Haynes, Chiltons, etc is nothing bt Toilet paper in my opinion.  It just gets people into trouble.  Major services are every 30k. timing Belt and tensioner replacement a MUST at 105K or you will have more headaches and more $$$$$ go out if the belt breaks.  $400 compared to 3-5 thousand is a lot better.  Hope this helped.  Roger
