Volvo Repair: 960 A/C clutch squeal, can I bypass?, grease job, power steering pump

Question
I'm looking at a '95 960 Sedan to buy, in decent shape, but the A/C clutch is shot, and sometimes squeals like a banshee.  I know I can get a re-built compressor for under $300, but it looks like a nightmare to install, as the compressor is underneath botht he alternator and power-steering pump.  Can the belt be changed for a shorter one, that can just bypass the A/c compressor?
Second Question:  a slight squeak from the right front when I push down the fender and release, often audible when driving..sounds like the spring.  When I first drove the car, there were also a few grunts & groans from the front end, but these seemed to disappear after driving for a bit, but the squeak still occasionally sounded.  Since the car sat for a month or two before I drove it, I'm wondering if all that is just from sitting, and a grease job & bit of driving might make it all go away. The car handles and teracks fine...Straight as an arrow  with my hands off the wheel.  What do you think?
Thanks,
Neil

Answer
You should have the car inspected by a Volvo specialized shop or dare say it... the dealer. They will know what to look for and prioritize any needs the car may have. A pre purchase inspection could save you alot of headaches and money.Shouldn't cost more than an hour of labor.I don't know of a shorter belt to bypass the AC. Its not that bad of a job. The squeaking suspension will not be fixed with a lube. All suspension components are sealed and no grease fittings are present.Ball joints, stabilizer links, tie rods are all high failure components. To name a few
