can you explain the steps to change the timing belt on a 2000 volvo s40? and what should the valve placement be at to set the marks correctly.

Before you remove the belt rotate the engine (clockwise) so that the crankshaft aligns with the mark on top of the oil pump housing. Make note of tensioner position.The two cam gears should line up with the marks on the belt cover.Remove the tensioner and remove the belt.Replace tensioner and install new belt, adjust tension with allen wrench to original tensioner position.
