Classic/Antique Car Repair: spun wheel studs, wheel studs, wheel adapters

Question
Long story short,  I am using wheel adapters to mount a set of US Mags on my '70 Valiant.  Problem is I didn't realize the studs on the adapters where too long for the mag style lug nuts until I mounted two of the tires, and spun the studs.  Now I can't get the lugs nuts off, because the studs spin with the nuts.  I attempted to grip the tips of the studs with vise grips, and turn the lugs with a wrench, but the lugs spin out of the vise grips.  I even ground the tip of a stud so I would have two flat surfaces for the vise grips, to grip.  But there is not enough of the stud exposed to get a solid grip.  Are there any techniques to repair this, or am I in bigger trouble than I though?

HI ; well you are in a bit of a bind , the main thing is you do not wish to mess up the new Mags. you can try a chisel or a air impact  gun , and be super carefull , or even a set of torches , but I would get a dremel  tool and  use  the cutting wheel- get a box of cutting wheels and there is nothing that it will not go threw , I use it for all types of things and if it will cut threw a master lock it will do the studs in , just go slow and it will work   ok ..>>
