Volvo Repair: Volvo 1991 940se, fuel pump relay, question thanks

Question
QUESTION: Hello,

I have a 1991 Volvo 940se and when I either accelerate suddenly or press the breaks too suddenly, all the engine lights come on and the car dies.  The car always runs again when I start it again immediately, but I am unsure what is going on; and honestly, I think this is potentially dangerous as this is happening more frequently.  I would appreciate any advice you can offer.  Thanks.

ANSWER: Any other symptoms? Have you checked for fault codes?Does it cough and sputter or just cut out? When was last tune?

QUESTION: Thanks for the reply.  Again, all the lights on the dashboard comes on, and the car dies without coughing and sputtering. Also, the AC button light flashes.  Basically, the engine turns off and I have to bring the car to a stop and start it again.  I have had the car for 10+ years and have done all preventive services at the recommended mileage. Again, I appreciate the advice.

Answer
I believe the ac button flashing is a seperate problem. You should start with a thorough check of the car, look at the basics...battery and charging system performance, overall condition of the ignition components Check the fuel pump relay, fuel pressure, fault codes, and base idle. There is also an interference relay under the hood that could be problematic
