Volvo Repair: Gear change light bulb, light bulb, fingers

Question
I just got an '89 740 automatic sedan. I'm pretty sure there is supposed to be a light under the gear changer that reads "P R N D 2 1" because I can't see it at all at night. If it's a light bulb problem, how do I get to and change the light?

Thanks

Answer
Kim, yes there is a bulb in there but I dont think you really want to mess with that.  Its one of the biggest pains in the neck to do.  you have to take that whole top shifter cover off and you need small fingers to manuveur the bulb in and out of the lamp slot.  Personally I use the feel method but I understand if you want to see the shifter at night.  Let me know if you want to pursue it any further.
