Volvo Repair: S70 secondary air injection system problem, volvo product, sas code

Question
I have the P0410 error secondary air injection system (SAS) code on my 98
S70 volvo. I can't figure out why the pump won't turn on. When I remove the
SAS relay and put a wire shot across the secondary of the SAS relay, the pump
runs fine. With the SAS relay removed, I measure 10V on the primary side of
the relay contacts. Shouldn't this be enough voltage to close the relay? Do you
know what the voltage on the primary side of the relay should be? What
electronics sends the voltage to the SAS relay? Is it from an electronic control
module somewhere, and could that unit be damaged? I have replaced the
relay and it still won't run the pump. I also measure 6 volts at the leads to the
controller (that switches vacuum to the SAS injection valve). Is this the right
voltage to open the SAS valve and is it sent by the same electronic control
module as the voltage sent to turn on the relay? Do you have a circuit
diagram for the whole system?
Thanks!

Answer
MArk, those airpumps are contstantly going bad.  you may think the pump is running fine but i would bet that there is water and garbage stuck in there.  That pump only is designed to come on once from a dead cold start first things in the morning.  Did you try that?  Roger

Obviously you didnt try what I told you to do and for this I get a 1 in knowledge?  When you reach Master status on the Volvo product,  then you can come and talk to me.  Your ridulous questions make me want to stop doing this service.  Have a nice day.
