Volvo Repair: 85 244 GL stalls after 5 minutes, coolant temp, tune ups

Question
Hi! My hubby and I have an 1985 Volvo 244GL that we are about to give up on. About 6 months ago, it started stalling (at slow speeds and when idling) once the engine got warmed up (about 15 minutes). After stalling, the car will restart 2 or 3 times, run fine (until slowing or stopping), and then it dies for several hours. The engine does not seem to be overheating. And,the problem has gradually worsened. We have tried major tune-ups, adjusting the idle, replacing the catalytic converter, and are currently in the middle of replacing the engine control wiring harness. Can you point us in the right direction before we end up wasting anymore time, money and frustration on this car? Help!?!?           - Corina

Answer
Corina, Did you replace the coolant temp sensor in the cylinder head?  What is the condition of the airmass meter?  The engine harness is a good idea since the car is over 20 years old and is a good place to start as far as stalling goes but I would check these other 2 items first.  Roger
