Volvo Repair: Electrical problem 1990 740, fuse box, time engine

Question
I am trying to figure out a problem on a 1990 740 wagon. The compressor was shorting out, but before we realized it, we noticed that each time you would try to use the power windows, it would blow the fuse, after replacing the fuse several times, found out it was the compressor and unplugged it...the lady said she had smelt a slight burning smell at one time coming from the fuse box.  Right now, the fuel pump will not work and I have tried a relay out of my 740 turbo and it wouldn't work with that one, if you turn the key on, the parking lights come on(headlight switch in the off position) and the blower comes on with the blower switch set to zero...no noise from the fuel pump(it used to make noise the whole time engine was running, a faint whine)   For the other part, when you have the key out of the ignition, and turn the headlight switch to the parking lights, the parking lights come on and the blower motor comes on. Do you think there is a short somewhere?? Maybe all this is why the fuel pump is not working, not sure...engine will start with starting fluid.   Any suggestions on what to do from here???  Thanks

Answer
Ken, This is one of them situations where I would have to do various procedures to figure out whats going on.  I cant even begin to tell you where to start.  Im glad you found the power window/compressor deal.  That one happens all the time.  I can only suggest testing one circuit at a time.  Roger
