Volvo Repair: Volvo 850 AC Intermittent, volvo 850, shims

The AC on my 1996 850 with 165K works for about 10 minutes then blows hot air. If I turn it off for a while (5 min) it will start working again when I turn it back on.  The evaporator and condenser have been replaced in the last two years.  What could be wrong now? "

Bruno, common issue with the 850 is that the clutch gets spaced out over the years.  There are small shimes that can be removed to draw the clutch closer.  Personally, if the compressor is original, I would spend the money and get a new compressor instead of messing with these shims.  Roger
