Volvo Repair: 2005 Volvo XC90, 2005 volvo xc90, volvo xc90

Question
QUESTION: Roger, My wife's Xc90 had to be jump started this morning. She took it the local Volvo dealer thinking it was a dead battery. When they checked out the car they informed her that it needed a software download and after they did the download the car seems to be working fine. The download was to the icm module. We had no messages on the system information screen. When my wife asked she was told that this occurs occasionally on the XC90 and it is fixed with this download. My concern is that it happened without warning and should we have noticed any telltale signs that this was going to happen or is this a freak happening. Is there anything we can do to avoid this from happening again.

Thank you,

Ivan & Nancie
ANSWER: Ivan, thats why you have Volvo on-call.  There is no way of knowing when something will fail. Its still under warranty so that is peace of mind.   Enjoy your vehicle.  Roger

QUESTION: since this is a 2005 XC90 it does not have on call.

Thanks anyway for your input

Answer
Ivan, thank you for all the wonderful negative ratings you gave me. I was trying to reassure you thats what the warranty was for and to my knowledge, and please correct me so I dont make the mistake of giving someone else bad information, that On-call is there for all of your warranty period.  If its not then I appologize.  Have a nice day.  Roger
