Volvo Repair: Volvo 2004 side mirror replacement, side mirror, electrical connections

xc70 2004, replacing entire mirror and cannot get inside door panel removed to plug in the electrical connections.  seems to hang up around the middle. do i need to take the panel all the way off, and if so, how do i do that.  what is the alternative?  thank you

Andy there is no alternative, you must take the panel off to get to the connector.   Should be a small cover where the hand pull is and behind there is a screw.  Remove the black cover in the corner where the mirror screws will be.  If yours has the small buttons around the door panel, push the small button in the middle then remove the clips all around then the panel should come off.  Let me know how it works out.  Roger
