Volvo Repair: 2002 new engine, camden sc, columbia sc

Question
I have a 2002 v-70 2.4 turbo.  Purchased it 1/3/07.  I had it in for service, 55,000 mile, on a Tuesday.  On Wednesday afternoon I noticed the low coolant light was on. Since I had just had the service done on Tuesday, I thought they just forgot to top the fluid, so I planned to go down at 8:00 am to Columbia, SC from Camden, SC Thursday morning after I worked at 6:45 am. Prior to the trip down I added a whole jug of 50/50 coolant.  I was on my way down and the engine shut off. I found out I had a crack in the plastic part of the radiator thus letting all of the coolant out.  My warranty from Great Lakes refused to pay on the repair.  Should I replace the engine for around $6300 or because of other key components possible damage, the transmission,  would it be wise to repair the car, or just take the loss??

Answer
Kristen, just repair the radiator and have them tear the engine down to see how bad the cylinder head got warped.  You really should have kept an eye on your gauges.  Personally, I like the V70 and its a great car.  Unless they will trade that in for you as-is then you really have no choice but to fix the car.  Roger
