Volvo Repair: Ignition switch, volvo s 70, volvo dealer

Question
When I put the key into the ignition switch the key turns
but does not start the car, I had it disasselbled and I
can start the car with a screwdriver with the socket on the
other side of the ignition switch, without using the key,
What is the problem and how much does an ignition switch
cost, I have a 1998 volvo s-70. Tks

Answer
Your key needs to be programmed at the Volvo Dealer.  Car will not run with the wrong key.  The ring that goes around the lock reads the key.  The key has a computer chip and then lets the car run.  Roger
