Volvo Repair: Questions about the S40, volvo service, volvo s40

Hi, I am looking at buying a 2002 Volvo S40. But, I live in an area where there is no Volvo service center, the closest one is about 250 miles away. I would like some opinions about this car. is there any bugs or issues with it?? repair costs?? higher than Honda??
I have owned a Honda for the last 13 years and have had little to no touble or major repair costs.

Pete, stick with the honda.  The S40 has plenty of quirks and you will get mad everytime you have to go to the Volvo Shop.  Its cheaper to stick with the Honda.  I like the S40, its a good car but you need to have knowledgable people working on them and not Joe's garage.  Roger
