Volvo Repair: S80 oil pressure, paint roller, oil pickup

Question
Roger my wife has a 2001 S80.  She recently had the oil pressure light go on and took it into the dealer.  They told her she needs to have the oil pickup tube cleaned out. They told her $998.  I have always done my own work on my cars (not my wifes).  Is this something that is possible to do?  How hard is it to pull the oil pan and the ensuing work? I appreciate your input and reading yur answers.
Thanks,
mike

Answer
Mike, This job is a pain and I wouldnt recommend doing it unless you have an engine hold up tool and a lift.  The tube doesnt need cleaning out.  The orings are broken and worn.  They need to be replaced.  There is also a Volvo chemical gasket the needs to be applied.  the oilpan  must be thoroughly cleaned and rolled on with a paint roller.  Too much will make it leak.
