Volvo Repair: 2002 Volvo S60 2.4T 60k miles, volvo s60, 2002 volvo s60

Question
Just purchased yesterday, 2002 Volvo S60 2.4T  with 60k miles.  Drove the car about 400 miles home, while driving under 35 mph I feel no problems with brakes.  Very smooth quick and responsive.  When braking from higher speeds, I feel and hear vibration probably from the front end.  Advise to correct?  Also, what would be the recommended maintenance on this car since I really don't know the past maintenance history?  Other than the obvious oil change & air filter, should I flush the radiator, transmission service and whatelse?  Is there any one thing that seems to fail on these models?  like a fuel filter for example.  I did see in the message center display [service engine soon] and need to know what I need to do to reset/stop that.  Your reply is much appreciated as I've been reading other responses.

Answer
Bryan, every 30K is a major service.  I would check the records in the glovebox to see if it was done.  MAjor service is, oil change, trans fluid change(synthetic ATF), spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter, coolant change, cabin filter change, serp belt check.   I would check the front end for any bad components, but I think it would be the front rotors giving you the problems.  Things that fail on the S60 havent been as bad as the 850's but we have seen electrical components going bad and the usual A/C issues.  Resetting of the light is fairly simple.  Turn key to pos 1 and hold in odo reset.  Turn to pos 2.  you should hear a beep.  Let go of button.  If it doesnt reset, keep trying.  Roger
