Volvo Repair: 2004 Volvo S80 Ignition Switch, volvo s80, 2004 volvo s80

Question
At first I couldn't get the key all the way into the ignition of my 2004 Volvo S80.  Then, after repeated attempts, I was able to insert the key a little further, but still not in far enough to be able to unlock the steering wheel, take the car out of park, or start the engine.  I couldn't get the car towed because we couldn't get it out of gear to load it up onto a flatbed trailer.  I finally found a tow company who would put the car on a dolly and drive it on the freeway and on a curvy mountain road at 35-40 miles per hour.  I live an 45 minutes away from the nearest Volvo dealership.  When I called two dealership service departments for advice about inserting the key and trying to have the car towed, they didn't have any answers.  Neither one of them even had any loaner cars for me to use once I was able to get a tow. This vehicle has barely 46,000 miles on it.  Another concern is a loud clunking sound coming from the front end.  It occurs when I back out of the garage, waiting on the driveway until the garage door closes. Then I continue in reverse, backing out into the street to my left.  I then shift into D and proceed forward at a low speed 10-15 mph.  Before I get to the end of the street  to turn left, I hear a loud clunk.  At times when this happens, the gas pedal vibrates a little.  After several visits to the service dept. where I bought the car, it still continued.  It then stopped for awhile, and has just recently started up again. Any advice?

Answer
Sharon, did they fix the ignition problem?  As far as the clunk it may be whats called the strut tower cushion.  Its a common problem with the S80.  The dealer should take car of this car for another 4 thousand miles.  I would keep complaining until something is done.  Roger
