Volvo Repair: gearbox to be replaced in XC70, volvo xc70, great cars

My Volvo XC70 (160,000 km) started to have acceleration problem, lack of power and a vibration when going uphill. The garage suggested to replace a gearbox (geartronic automatic/manual). Taking into account the milage I am wandering if it is worth to pay this very expensive repair. Do Volvo give a warranty for their major spare parts? Are there any other major repairs that I should expect before 250'000 km if I deceide to keep the car (which I love)?

Baerfuss, Those are great cars but do have issues when they start getting older.  Volvo Warranty are only for 4 years/50000 miles.  Not sure how it is overseas.  You will have a/c evaporator problems in the future.  Brakes and various trim pieces will start giving out.  Roger
