Volvo Repair: V70 Window motor, 1999 volvo v70, volvo v70

Question
I own a 1999 Volvo V70 and I am having trouble with the driver power window.  I replaced the master window switch console but the problem continues.  The window will run slow then the motor cuts out as if a thermal switch ‘trips’ and interrupts power to the motor.

Now the motor won’t run at all.  I wonder if the motor has burned out as a result of the friction in the window track.

Can you offer any suggestions on how to test the motor and how to remove the door panel to get to the motor.  Is this a common problem?

Answer
To remove the door panel:

1-remove cover plate inside handle in arm rest
2-remove screw behind cover plate
3-remove trim around silver door handle
4-push in center of clips around outside edge of door panel
5-remove all those clips
6-pull bottom of door panel out and lift up

most likely a fuse blew while the motor was struggling to operate so be sure to check all of those first.  The connector for the mottor is almost center of the door.  You can check for resistance to see if it is still good.  There is no spec for that measurement but if it is very high or 0 then it is bad.  The motor is only availble with the whole window regulator assembly which is riveted in.
