Volvo Repair: 2002 Volvo S60, volvo s60, alternator belt

I have a loud squealing noise under the hood on the passenger side. Seems like it is comming from the compressor under the alternator. Belt is tight. When i turn the ac on...it gets louder and idles rough. Has a hesitation when driving it.  Please help!! Thanks.

Your problem is most likely a pulley issue.  One of the pulleys (a/c, power steering, tensioner, or compressor) probably has a worn out bearing.  Try to determine which component it is coming from and then replacing that component should replace the problem.  If the belt has never been replaced, and the car has more than 70k miles, I would replace the belt first.
