Volvo Repair: Acceleration problem/Steering noise, car banks, uk spec

Question
Hi, I have a UK spec 2001 S60 2.0T, I'm currently experiencing 2 problems. Fisrtly, when I push my foot hard on the acceleration, the engine seems to be struggling to cope, which only developed recently, it seems to hold back or seem like something is slipping, but everything is fine when I apply power gradually. Also if I keep my foot hard on the accelerator, when the engine is struggling for 3, 4 seconds, the engine management light starts blinking, and then if I don't back off, it will stay on, but it'll go off in a few days.
The second problem I'm experiencing is that a strange grinding noise occures when the car is banking right when it's turning left and only to the left, but the noise can only be heard if the car banks fairly hard. It would be great if you can tell me the source of these problems, I'd be forever in your debt. Thanks

Andy

Answer
Andy, I would check the all the turbo hoses to see if there are any holes in them.  That would cause that kind of symptom.  As far as the grinding noise, that is a difficult one to diagnose without looking at the car.  I would check all the suspension components but particularly look at the upper strut cushions to see if they are broken.  Roger
