Volvo Repair: battery drain, milliamps, ammeter

Question
2002 v70 station wagon. after car sits for a few days the battery is drained, after battery is recharged we hear a sequence of ticking noise in the doors and dash when off. had it in the shop they replaced the ddm and reloaded the program, still draining, they replaced the sim computer (main computer} this was not the problem. the battery is good. as long as the car is driven daily theres no problem.

Answer
Well there is only one way for sure to find what the problem is.  You need to hook up an ammeter to the battery and watch how much power is being used while the car is off.  30 milliamps is the acceptable amount.  Then with the car off and all the door latches shut, start disconnecting components until the drain goes away.  Usually it is a light bulb in the glove box, or sunvisor, or something like that.  I can't really say what it is for sure because with this kind of problem every situation is unique.  It sounds like the technicians have been guessing so far.  This kind of problem takes a while to diagnose so if they have a good idea of what it could be i can understand why they would guess.
