Towing Issues: Personal Property in a vehicle, ex girlfreind, personal property

My Fathers ex-girlfreind stole my vehicle. I retreived it and all of her personal property is still in it. I was wondering how long by law i have to keep her property? It has been 2 weeks now and she has yet to contact me.. What should i do? I am pregnant and dont want anything to do with her, without the law there because she does drugs and and is a drunk.

Did you pursue charges for theft or unauthorized use? I would recommend sending her a registered letter to whatever address you have for her. You can request in the letter that she make arrangements to meet you at a public place or even the police department to claim her property. I would have a witness and make a list of all the property and box it up. When she comes to get it get her to sign the form stating she got her personal property. If she refuses to sign it that is OK, just have a witness and write on there that she refused to sign.
